Disclosure: I stronlgy suspect that most FAQ (Frequently-asked
Questions) pages are not based entirely on questions submitted by site visitors.
This is certainly true about the Pax Mundo FAQ. Most of the questions listed
here have not been asked through this site, but they do provide a convenient
format for questions that are likely to be on the minds of some site visitors.
Why does this site single out the United States?
The site is developed by a U.S. citizen who is a college professor,
and is intended primarily for U.S. college students and other citizens of
the United States. Because the United States is a democracy, it is the
responsibility
of such people to be well-informed about their country's activities in the
world. The armed services of the United States, its intelligence agencies,
the Congress, and the entire Executive branch of the Federal government all
answer to the citizens who rule the country. Unfortunately, the majority of
such citizens do not have the information they need in order to make informed
decisions about the role of the U.S. in the world. This site is a small contribution
toward creating more informed citizens. The site does not focus on the atrocities
of other countries, because the intended audience of this site does not include
the people with responsibility for those countries.
A lot of countries do far worse things than the U.S. does; why not list
them?
The answer to this question comes in two parts. First, the fact that
some countries can be found with worse behavior than that of the U.S. does
not excuse the excesses of the U.S. Second, the site does describe the atrocities
of quite a few other countries, but only to the extent that the U.S. shares
some responsibility for despotic behavior.
Who is Dr. Hayes-Bohanan, anyway?

biographical note for the aspects
of his background that are most relevant to this project.
